Chili With Rice – Finger Licking Good!

Chili With Rice is my family’s favorite choice and it is finger-licking good! This Chili with rice recipe is the recipe that I make for my family often. They love it with rice, I love just the chili with crackers. Saltine cracker is what I eat with it. Chili with rice is a dish that keeps you warm. Some like it hot, some like it very hot. Here we have it just like it is, Original, no hot peppers.

My mother taught me to make chili years ago, and she said, don’t fill it full of chili peppers, or anything that is extra hot, let everybody make it as hot as they like by adding the pepper to their bowl as they eat it. There were some who did not like peppers at all. This way everyone would be satisfied. It was just as delicious with or without the peppers.

Now Let’s Make Chili With Rice!

Things you need…

  • 1 lb of chili meat
  • 2 lbs of lean ground beef
  • 1 – 2 medium yellow onions
  • 1 bell pepper
  • garlic – 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 pkg. of McCormick chili seasoning, original, mild or hot
  • Sour Cream
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Chili powder to taste
  • Tomatoes – diced – 1 can
  • 2 cans of tomato sauce
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • 1/4 cup of flour
  • cayenne pepper (optional)

Getting It Together

chilie with rice

First, Brown the chili meat in a large pot. After the chili meat is brown, add the hamburger(ground beef, your choice) meat in the same pot with the chili meat. Chop the onions, garlic, and bell peppers and add them while the meat is browning. Add the packet of McCormick chili seasoning and the chili powder. Add tomatoes and tomato sauce, salt, and pepper.

Mix the flour with enough water to make a smooth paste. Add this mixture to the chili. This makes it a little thick. Be careful to not add too much mixture. It will make it too thick. Cayenne pepper if you like it hot. Cook for 30 – 45 minutes on medium heat to start, then change to low heat. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Cook the rice separately. Now serve with rice or crackers.

Add the Sour Creem and cheese on top of the bowl of chili.
